Coasts
Splendid Adriatico and Ionio Seas are decorated by wonderful coasts: we refer for example to peculiarity rocks (that projecting hang down on the sea, such as on Adriatico side) or to 130 km very thin and white sand on Ionio side.
These coasts start with bushes and green natural oases on the zone after San Foca (look at Cesine zone, that is protected by WWF) and then go beyond S. Andrea to get a thick bushes protected area, characterised by Alimini lakes, to arrive after to Otranto city.
After Basilico seaport, luxuriant nature continues to hide in the particular caves maritime ravines and in the cliffs impressive hills to get then famous “
De Finibus Terrae” sanctuary, Paradise door, and to meet finally with the splendid Leuca, legend of 2 seas, because of its renowned seaport.
After this, we can pass to mention Ionio littoral, from San Gregorio, Torre Vado, Pescoluse, Torre Pali, Riva di Ugento till Gallipoli: these zones are renowned for their beautiful very thin sand beaches and Smeraldo bay.
We can define it as an highly exploited by bathing and touristic structures.
Then, the golden dunes continue to hem the Ionio sea, from phosphorescent depths to underground sources clearings, which are fit in the green nature (such as the area after Santa Caterina), until Cesareo port, that is a no-contaminated zone with unreal sea, we can define it as a chosen place for a maritime park important project.
